Weekly Top 30 for April 12

Happy Monday everyone!

Still 2 weeks back but we're still at it.

This week's number 1 remains the same as Death Cab Fur Cutie stays on top. Purity Ring moves up to #2 but Tame Impala is the clear heir apparent to number 1 here. The new Waxahatchee song climbs into the Top 10 as well as Baltimore's own Lower Dens.

New in the Top 30 is Tei Shi, plus more tunes from Purity Ring, Courtney Barnett and Speed Ortiz. Also new is the newest effort from indie gods Blur.

New songs on the way by the Vaccines, the National and Best Coast so look out for that!

Weekly Top 30 for April 5

Still behind but still pushing along here.

This weeks Top 30 has a new number one and for the first time in 2 months it is NOT sung but a female. Familiar indie rock staples Death Cab For Cutie have a new album out this year and will be touring everywhere this summer and fall so you have NO excuse not to see them and their new Chris Walla-less selves. The first single from their 2015 album, "Kintsugi" (whatever that means), is "Black Sun" and we welcome it to #1!

In other news, Tame Impala's new track has marched it's way into the Top 10 as was as new Decemberists. New to the Top 30 we have Colleen Green, new Lord Huron and another track from Dan Deacon, this one a bit more Deacon-esque.

  Have a great weekend, people!

Weekly Top 30 for March 29

OK so we are still 2 weeks behind but hopefully soon I'll catch up!

March 29th sees Montgomery having another week at the top with "Not Around". I swear Madonna should have written this song in 1985. Canadian act Braids and Toro Y Moi both slip into the Top 10 while MO and Natalie Prass slip out.  The Top 10 still has 8 women singers in it!

The Top 30 has some new tunes including the first single from Tame Impala this year. "Let It Happen" is a throwback to the 70's but I'm telling you they almost turn into Daft Punk somewhere in the 4th minute! Also new is Sasha Siem, a new single from Waxahatchee and new Hot Chip and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

Coming down the pike is a new track from the National, as well as new stuff from TORRES, Of Monsters and Men and Ben Khan

Weekly Top 30 for March 15

We have a new champion here at Sonick Radio! Singer/songwriter Montgomery snatches the #1 spot from Courtney Barnett in stunning fashion, all the way back from #5!  Certainly TORRES can’t be happy about this. Zella Day also moves into the top 10 with “Hypnotic”

As for big movers, the Twerps, Bearson and Diet Cig all move up 10 spots.

Two more new songs made big jumps as well with Braids, a Calgary based band made up of 1 girl and 2 guys and sing their new song which is perhaps discussing gender inequalities with “Miniskirt”.  Braids is also opening for Courtney Barnett on her US tour this June. The other new band is Lower Dens. We’ve all heard their stuff and being from Baltimore we should have all seen them live at least once right?  Well their new songs “To Die In LA” finally makes the Top 30!

On the horizon for the Top 30 is another Death Cab For Cutie song, more Dan Deacon and a song from a new band called Lady Lamb the Beekeeper.
